Gladiolus

Sentinel of my garden
Your children spent,
Yet you remain strong.
Noble slender grace
Slowly dying into Gia.
Impending frost,
A lullaby of death

Adieu my Sentry,
Until we meet again!

Jafra and then, real life.

I have to say I'm always excited when I talk about Jafra or use my Jafra products! They just make me feel so good when I use them. I am really grooving on this new lovely lifestyle I've thrown myself into.

Speaking of life, things at Dad's are on a teeter-totter. Stefanie STILL has no GED, is a pain in everyone's ass and pretty much, proving herself to be worth very little at the moment. I'm pretty unhappy with her behavior and hope to find some way to get through to her that Dad won't be around to support her forever and she has to start being responsible for her actions NOW.

Speaking of Dad, he's still not wanting to eat, won't let me do much for him until it's almost too late and he's in a tizzy. It's very frustrating and makes me horribly nervous when I have to listen to his rants and try to repair his finances and whatever else is on his mind. He just misses Joyce so bad. She did EVERYTHING for him. And now, he's finding it impossible to do things for himself. No wonder he's depressed.

Okay, done venting about Dad and Stef.

I AM going to Florida in September. I hope. I really need this. I want to see Disney World again. I'm counting the days and hope Dad will be okay the ten days we are gone!!!

Sunset

Sunset, originally uploaded by clodvantam.

Even thought this is a sunset photo, I feel it's appropriate to how I feel after watching the movie Across the Universe. I am simply in awe.

Life is good. Especially with coffee. *GRIN*

2008 and STILL no flying car

Happy '08.

Never thought I'd make it this far. My teenage death wish never came to pass. I made it well beyond the thirty-five years I had given myself.

Phew.

May thing year bring sanity to the masses, humor to the humorless, and funding for more humanitarian projects.

But on the reality side of things:

This year will bring about more panic over super bugs, the weather changes will still fuel the "End is near" bullshit talks, Oprah will make one bad "slip of the tongue" mistake by siding with Obama a bit too eagerly, and Paris Hilton will NOT end up getting knocked up.

And war still rages in areas of the world.

Same shit, different year.

Detaching takes time

I'm working my way through it all. I like who I am and where I am going. I love being married. I am proud of the successes we have accomplished together. We don't fight. We can disagree, but there is no anger.

Holding onto anger takes too much energy away from one's Self, as well as others.

I am no longer angry at my former friends. I hold some disappointment, but that too is fading.

I can't make others see the view from my eyes.

Is my view correct? My gut says, "yes"

Was I wrong in the manner that I chose to cut ties? My gut again says, "yes"

It is done. I see no repairs in the future unless I grovel for forgiveness. My pride says, "Fuck no"

Give it up. Toss it to the Winds.

Adieu. Adios. So long, Fare thee well.

I see a light in my future.

Down in the Country

Spence and I visited his family. As dull as that may sound to some, it was really quite wonderful. The weather was absolutely perfect with no clouds in the sky! And the wildlife was everywhere! I saw more hummingbirds than I ever saw in my life. We spotted quite a few Monarch butterflies en route to their Mexican destination. I counted four other butterfly species, but alas, I have no clue what they are at the moment. We also saw quite a few deer. The fawns are so cute this time of year.

Just about twenty minutes after our arrival, there was an accident in the neighborhood. A speeding pickup truck has taken one of the sharp turns too fast and spun out, hitting or almost hitting a junked truck parked in front of a trailer home.

(You really could not tell if there was damage to the parked truck, for it had been in a demolition derby just last week. There was hollering and screaming heard from inside the trailer. The chickens in the yard scattered. I must say, no chickens were harmed when this accident occurred. But on with our story....)

The driver of the speeding truck ran from the accident scene because the State Highway Patrol was in pursuit. The sirens were heard literally seconds after the accident. The officer arrived, and followed the offender into the woods.

Upon hearing the sirens, the entire neighborhood came out to see the festivities. All 28 of the neighbors came running! The children lead the pack. Many were barefoot. The heaviest drinkers and smokers huffed their way along, holding up the rear. Our family brigade sauntered down the driveway for a closer view.

The excited neighbors chattered and talked loudly among themselves. We overheard from one out-of-breath neighbor that the State Police had been looking for this particular individual because he was involved in another accident just an hour earlier and also had fled the scene.

Once my father in law heard what he wanted, he decided he saw enough excitement for the day. We all followed him back indoors and away from the police siren that was still blaring.

ALL THIS happened within 30 minutes of our arrival.

The rest of the visit was great. Spencer, his dad and brother in law golfed in a charity golf scramble on Saturday. I remained behind with the women and entertained my niece. She was caring for an adorable well-mannered puppy, so entertaining her was easy.

That night, after dinner and just before moonrise, I went outdoors with my dear niece and happy puppy to gaze at the stars. She pointed out the Milky Way for me and I was stunned. I never saw it so clearly before! Maybe I never truly saw it all! It was beautiful. Breathtaking. A moment I will forever cherish.

Later on that night, I took Spencer outdoors and tried to show him the Milky Way. But the moon was up, and its brightness made it nearly impossible to point out the haze we call Home. Spence DID manage to see a shooting star, and was quite content to stand there in the country quiet and think.

On Sunday, we attended church and enjoyed a lovely brunch afterwards. My sister in law had made gazpacho and I found it rather tasty. I don't think I had gazpacho before. Afterwards, the men watched sports, and rested. After a dinner of hotdogs and the prettiest potato salad, we bid our family goodbye.

The drive home was great, and the iHome and iPod kept us company.

Life is nice.
